There has been a major construction boom in the city and now Kuala
Lumpur has one of the most impressive landscapes in all of Asia.
The city has also blended old with the new in the total design of
the city. There is even a bus tour that takes almost 4 hours to
show one the must see sights of this amazing city. The Golden Triangle
is the main commercial centre and is also a great shopping centre
and has many classy hotels. And in this area one cannot but notice
the Petronas Twin Towers. It was built composing of 88 stories and
designed with Islamic geometric principles to be the tallest building
in the world, but is second to Taipei 101. The two towers are connected
with a sky bridge on the 41st and 42nd floors. The Mega Mall of
Suria is located at the base as well as a museum and a concert hall.
One can see the Kuala Lumpur Tower, which is the fourth largest
of its kind in the world standing at 421 metres and is the city’s
Telecommunications tower.
Interesting Buildings
On Pentaling Street there is the Chan See Shu Yuen with its
typical courtyard and pavillions which is really impressive and
also Malaysia’s most impressive Hindu Temple, the Sri Mahamariamman
Temple and has an elaborate Gateway and the facade is encrusted
with jewels and gold. Up the road is the quaint Chinese Sze Ya Temple.
The Colonial buildings on Jala Raja Chulan house the National History
Museum, The Merdeka Square and the Sultan Abdul Samad building considered
the Big Ben of Kuala Lumpur.
A good 15 minute walk southwards down Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin
will bring you to the Magnificent National Mosque where all Muslims
go and its got a capacity of up to 16,000. A half kilometre away
sits the main Rail station and is very enchanting.
