The planetarium is a must see attraction especially if you brought
your kids with you. There are exhibitions on the Space Science Show
and an ancient observatory park alongside an exhibition on astronomy
as well as viewing gallery that has a Sky movie screened every couple
of hours.
The National Art Gallery has over 2,500 paintings from many national
artists. There is also a craft museum which displays the many handicrafts
from different sectors of Malaysian Society. The National Museum
will give lots of local history as well as well laid out displays
on culture, traditions as well as arts, crafts, economic goings
on and currencies, along with flora and fauna exhibitions and weapons
on display. The museum is located about a 10minute ride from the
Railway station, when the traffic has eased off. This building is
quite beautiful and palatial with massive Italian glass murals at
the entrance, and it has seven galleries on three stories. The interesting
section of the museum is on the Peranakan culture, which displays
the fusion of the traditions of Malay and Chinese together.
Near the scenic lake Gardens is the Islamic Art Museum which is
as the name suggests, dedicated to Islamic Art. The building that
the museum is housed, is rather exquisite with Italian marble, Iranian
tiling and Uzbekistans best craftsmanship. There is a cafe within
the building and the exhibits are fascinating.
The Petrosains museum is located in the Petronas Twin Towers and
is a modern science museum that focuses on petroleum and technology
and has hands on simulations and interactive exhibits. Take the
time to explore!
